University Behavioral Center Admissions

Admissions at University Behavioral Center

University Behavioral Center provides a full range of mental health and substance use treatment programs for children, adolescents and adults in Orlando, Florida. We accept individuals under voluntary and Baker Act status.

No-cost assessments and referral services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Members of our admissions team are also available 24/7 to assist individuals who are seeking treatment, concerned family members or referring professionals. Please call 407-281-7000. If you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911.

The comprehensive assessment is offered at no-cost and is performed by a qualified clinician. The information we gather is reviewed with our assessment team. The assessment team will then make a level of care recommendation that best meets the needs of the individual patient.

University Behavioral Center is divided into two physically separate wings: the child and adolescent wing, and the adult wing. Each wing is subdivided into secured units. Secure 24-hour supervision helps promote patient safety and a therapeutic treatment environment. We provide acute inpatient care for psychiatric disorders as well as substance abuse rehab and detox services for drug and alcohol addiction.

Insurance

We accept most insurance plans, including private insurances, TRICARE®, Medicaid HMOs and Medicare. We are also contracted with the Veterans Administration. For more insurance information, please contact our admissions department at 407-281-7000.

What to Bring

It is important that everyone participates in maintaining a secure, therapeutic environment at University Behavioral Center. To help promote the safety of our patients, we have very strict rules about which personal items are admitted at our facility.

Bringing valuable items to the unit is strongly discouraged. University Behavioral Center will NOT assume responsibility for any lost or damaged items. Any items that are not permitted will be returned to the family, locked in a storage area or confiscated and surrendered according to University Behavioral Center hospital policy. Visit our What to Bring page to find out which personal belongings are encouraged, and which items are discouraged.
